GLIDE, Ore. -- The Glide area will have a new solid waste collection service.

The county commissioners have approved an agreement with Sutherlin Sanitation to take over the solid waste collection and recycling from Glide Disposal.

Tom Manton of the county natural resources department says Glide operator Gary Kennaday is retiring and the agreement will mean uninterrupted service for the Glide customers. "There needs to be continuous service, but also the Sutherlin disposal service comes right up to the boundary. They service right up to the boundary and they're very similar in customer base, and actually Sutherlin Sanitation is talking about adding some additional services, some drop boxes and things like that."

Manton says Glide Disposal is for sale, and it was a good match for Sutherlin to be able to take it over.

He added there would be no change in the fees for Glide customers, and they should actually have more services than before.
