Crash sends teen to Portland hospital

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- A single vehicle crash on Highway 138 west of Sutherlin sent a teenager to a Portland hospital with serious injuries over the weekend.

Oregon State Police say Derek Anderson, 18, was critically injured when the small Honda passenger car crashed into trees and brush about eight miles west of Sutherlin just before 2:00 p.m. Saturday.

He was taken by Life-flight helicopter to a Portland hospital for treatment.

A 14-year-old passenger was taken to Mercy Medical Center and treated  for injuries.
