Douglas County resident celebrates 100th birthday by touring school
By Katie Boer KPIC NewsROSEBURG, Ore. -- Saturday, October 31 marked Lillian Marsters' 100th birthday, and her one wish was to go visit Roseburg High School... 81 years after graduating from there. MultimediaRelated ContentPart of the graduating class in 1928, Marsters toured the campus to see how things have changed over the years. Marsters said, "Roseburg always stuck out in my mind as a school I liked." At 100 years old, Lilian Marsters experienced the dream of a lifetime, beginning her tour at the school's original building. She told KPIC that the last two weeks have been the best of her life. "Well, it's pretty big you know. This is the first time in 81 years that I gone through the school. That's a mighty lot of changes." Marsters was also honored at Roseburg High School's Breakfast of Champions Friday morning, and encourages students to get an education. "It's very very important, it's almost, it is necessary. I think you'd say so wouldn't you? Cause if you don't go to school, you won't know and you have to know something. Even to be a waitress." Congratulations from KPIC to Lillian for reaching a milestone in her life, along with fulfilling her dreams. |
