ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Organizers are getting ready for the big Veteran's Day Parade in downtown Roseburg, and they are still looking for participants.

The parade is set for Veteran's Day next Wednesday on Jackson Street, and organizer Roger Arnold says the Douglas County Veterans Advisory Council and the Veteran's Forum have taken over the organization of the parade.

He says they rely totally on contributions to put on the event. "Honor Veterans, and our theme is 'Service Through Sacrifice'. Our Grand Marshal this year are the families of blue star families, and also all of the deployed Iraqi soldiers," said Arnold.

Arnold says they expect several marching bands again this year, including the Roseburg High School Marching Band, and every year the Marshfield High School band from Coos Bay comes over for the event.

There is still time to enter if you want to be in the parade. "They can still be in it, and if they don't have the application in by Friday, they'll just come in fist come first serve, as they come into the parade," said Arnold. "There's still time for them to get in, but they will not be judged if they come in after Friday."

There will be a fly-over by the National Guard jets, weather permitting, but the parade will go on rain or shine.

Participants line up at 9:00 a.m., and the parade starts at the library on Jackson Street at 11:00 a.m. next Wednesday morning.

The parade honors veterans in all  branches of the service.
