COQUILLE, Ore. -- Investigators searched for clues Tuesday in the disappearance of a 31-year-old Coquille area woman who failed to show up for work Monday and whose car was found parked at her mother's house.

Jayme Sue Austin, 31, called her mother at work Monday morning and asked to use the shower at her mom's house in the Fairview area before going to work, telling her mother she had no water at her place, according to the district attorney. Austin then contacted her co-workers in Coos Bay and said she would be late.

Austin's employer contacted Austin's mother, Cindy Grisholt, around noon Monday to tell her Austin had not shown up for work. Austin's mother went home and found her daughter's car -- but no sign of her daughter.

Austin's mother contacted the Coos County Sheriff's Office at 2:30 p.m., and deputies responded to the scene. The sheriff's office activated the major crimes team, citing the suspicious nature of Austin's disappearance. Officers searched the Grisholt home and Austin's home and found no sign of Austin.

Search and rescue crews were to search the area Tuesday for clues in Austin's disappearance.

If you saw Austin or have any information about her whereabouts, call the Coos County sheriff's Office at (541) 396-3121.
