High surf advisory in effect for Oregon Coast
By KVAL.com staffFLORENCE, Ore. -- Be careful near the water on the Oregon Coast, weather forecasters said Tuesday. A high surf advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. Tuesday for the central Oregon Coast, the National Weather Service said in a high surf advisory. "This storm has produced a surge of about 2 feet in the water levels along the coast this morning," forecasters warned. "The storm surge is expected to gradually wane through tonight as winds offshore ease. Due to the magnitude of the high tides in addition to the storm surge, waves will travel much farther up the beach than usual during the high tides creating a dangerous situation in which extreme caution must be exercised. "Large logs and other debris can easily be tossed around by the force of these waves," the weather service warned. "Even the largest logs can roll easily on gently sloped beaches in ankle deep water." |
