ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Thanksgiving is just a week away, and as people start getting ready for a lot of food, Kruse Farms is preparing for a big spike in pie sales.

Kruse Farms has their highest number of pie sales the day before Thanksgiving, and over half of the pies sold will be their famous pumpkin pies.

Owmer Don Kruse said, "Most people want a fresh baked pie, and we usually start in about 8:00 on Tuesday night, and we usually have portable ovens we put in for the baked pies."

The bakery at the fruit stand will make about 800 pies for the upcoming holiday, and Kruse says the pumpkin pie recipe passed down by his grandmother is one of the reasons the bakery is so popular. "We think our crust is good, and one thing, all of our pies are made from scratch. Nothing is pre-prepared."

Even though they try to make extra pies, Don says it's best to pre-order so you can guarantee that you will have one on Thanksgiving.
