Glide man files for Douglas County Assessor
By Dan Bain KPIC NewsDOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- A Glide man has filed to run for Douglas County Assessor. Real estate agent Tony Page turned in the papers Monday to run for the position, which includes Tax Collector and Tax Assessor. He says wants to bring the office back in touch with the local market. "Well, I think the Assessor's Office needs to get back on track and back in touch with the market, and I think that the values are over-inflated and the cost of living is going up, yet the real estate market is going down, but the assessors values remain the same. People work far too hard for their money to pay their taxes based on over-inflated RMVs, Real Market Values, and I think something needs to be done about it." Page said he feels his experience in real estate and seven years as an appraiser in the Assessor's Office makes him qualified to be the assessor. Page is the only person to file to run in the May primary so far, for the non-partisan position held currently by Ron Northcraft. |
