Motorcycles rumble through south Douglas County for annual toy drive
By Dan Bain KPIC NewsMYRTLE CREEK, Ore. -- Motorcycle riders collected toys in southern Douglas County over the weekend. They were led by Santa himself, and Frosty the Snowman also joined in on a cool dry day.
It was the 11th annual Un-organized South County Toy Run, and about 150 motorcycle riders showed up to help. One of the organizers, Keith Burton, said they were down a little in the number of riders but they got a lot of toy donations. "We give all them toys to the fire department, and they distribute them to Myrtle Creek, Canyonville, Riddle, Milo, all the small communities through the south county here for the kids." Burton says they got a large donation from the Cow Creek Tribe and many other businesses and individuals in the community. The toys will all be distributed by the Myrtle Creek Fire Department to help make Christmas a little brighter for kids in the southern part of the county. |
