Light parade winds through south county from Riddle to Myrtle Creek
By Dan Bain KPIC NewsDOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- The road from Riddle to Myrtle Creek was packed with spectators Saturday night, waiting in anticipation of the annual Timber Truckers Light Parade. The annual trucker's light parade starts at D.R. Johnson Lumber Company in Riddle. This year's parade appeared to be a little shorter than in years past, but the trucks were just as spectacular. The parade had log trucks, tow trucks, fire trucks, emergency vehicles, vans and just about anything that could be decorated with lights.
The parade is sponsored each year by D.R. Johnson Lumber, along with many other community sponsors that contribute to the event. Every year, they display their one-log load, a log truck loaded with one very impressive, huge log decorated with rolls of lights. Community members were treated to chili, cookies, hot chocolate and coffee at Millsite Park. There were big crowds all along the route enjoying the sights and sounds of the big lighted trucks. |
