ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Funeral services were held at the Douglas County Fairgrounds Wednesday for Third Class Petty Officer David Mudge of Sutherlin, Ore.

Mudge died from an electrical accident while serving on the U.S.S. Rentz, while at port in the United Arab Emirates.

Friends and Family, along with several community members, came to pay their respects to the fallen sailor.

David was described as someone who would do anything to help his friends and family.

People said he always tinkered with engines and had a passion for cars, but most of all, he loved being with his family.

The Southern Oregon Patriot Guard were on hand to give a motorcycle escort and held flags during every part of the ceremony.

After the memorial service, Mudge was taken to the Roseburg National Cemetery, where he was laid to rest with full military honors.
