Former Gotta Hava Java owner found at Mexican border
By KPIC.com StaffSAN YSIDRO, Ca. -- The missing Glide man who is the former owner of the Gotta Hava Java coffee stands, was found safe and sound at the Mexican border late Wednesday night. At around 10:30 p.m., the Sheriff's Office received a call from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection office, San Ysidro port of entry, in San Diego, California. Mallory was detained by the Border Patrol, after he was found trying to re-enter the United States. A border patrol officer checked the National Crime Information Center computer system, and found Mallory listed as missing. According to the Border Patrol officer, Mallory said he has been living in the San Diego area for the past eight months. He recently traveled to Mexico and was returning to the United States. Back in March of 2008, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office began a missing person investigation after Mallory's pickup was found in the early morning, unoccupied over an embankment in the 3700 block of Little River Road. Searches of the area and the river were conducted but Mallory was never located. Over the past 1 1/2 years, detectives have continued investigating this case, following up on various leads and tips from the public. Mallory was in the midst of a civil dispute with his parents over money they said he owed them for the coffee stands. After notifying the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Mallory was released, as he is not wanted by the Sheriff's Office. According to a press release, this will conclude the Sheriff's Office investigation into this incident. |
