REEDSPORT, Ore. - Receiving up to the minute weather information is now possible for the City of Reedsport, thanks to a new fully operational weather station, that tracks everything from rainfall amounts, to wind speed.

Installed last month, the weather station is located inside the Umpqua Discovery Center.

Funded through grants and donations, the weather station features, a computer monitor which provides up to the minute weather information taken from a solar powered instrument outside.

It also features a brief weather history of the area.

"We did a time-line of when we had some freezing weather and the big wind storms and the big floods of this area. We are still working on having this information up on our website along with a web cam and people will be able to go to our website and pull up what they weather is doing currently and they can hopefully be able to pull up the past weather, "says Discovery Center Director Diane Novak.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration or NOAA, will likely use information provided by this weather station.
