Haircuts for Haiti a huge hit
By Glen Beeby KPIC News
ROSEBURG, Ore.--The appointment book was full at The Hot Spot at the Roseburg Valley Mall as several people came out to get a haircut in order to help Haiti. The shop was doing a fundraiser to try and help local nurse Lori Stoe make her way to Haiti to help with relief efforts. All of the money for haircuts went towards the fund, and has started to receive other donations from around the community. "I have had people send me checks in the mail so we are on our way," Lori said.
Hairstylist Candyce Porter says she was taken back, and amazed at how generous people were being, and one man even donate $100. Lori will need $3,500 to make the trip, and says her role as a maternity nurse will be a huge help to a country which has the highest infant mortality rate in the world. The event raised more than $1,100 total. |
