Amber Alert canceled for 2 kids taken by dad from Lewis-McChord
By KOMO StaffJOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. -- Two kids that were the subject of an Amber Alert Wednesday morning were found safe in Salem, Oregon, and their father was arrested. The alert was issued after their father entered a home on the Lewis-McChord base and swiped his 5- and 4-year-old sons without permission, officials said. Military officials say the father, identified as 35-year-old Allen Fish, did not have custody rights to the kids. Fish came into the home in the 5900 block of N. 16th Street on the base around 6:45 a.m. and took the two kids, military officials said. Witnesses say he jumped into a silver Honda Element with Oregon plates and was seen heading south on I-5 toward Oregon. But Fish was arrested in Salem early Wednesday afternoon, and the children were safe. Police were bringing the kids back to be reunited with their mother at the Lewis-McChord base later Wednesday. |
