ROSEBURG, Ore.The Junior ROTC championships were held at Roseburg High School on Saturday.
Twelve schools from Washington, Oregon, and Idaho were invited to the event in hopes of winning the Cascade Mountain League Title.
The students were judged in several different events including drill competitions, rifle abilities, and physical training.
Judges say there is a lot of criteria the cadets must meet in order to get a good score.
"we judge on technique, and how crisp the movements are we look for military bearings so you are not looking all around." Said Judge Alyson Dunlap.
The Roseburg team took first place overall including first in the armed drill competition, and second in the honor competition, making Roseburg league champions.
Even if they choose not to go into military service the Jr. ROTC program is meant to teach kids important skills that they can use in their everyday life.
