GLIDE, Ore. -  Glide residents are getting some help with dental care thanks to a large donation made possible by the F.F.A. class at Glide High School.

The van was in Glide Monday, with Dr. Lee Sharp and a dental assistant volunteering their time taking care of patients that are uninsured or under-insured and in need of some dental work.

Community 101 is a class at Glide High School through the F.F.A. taught by Kristina Haug, and last week the class presented the group Glide Helping Hands with a check for  $5,000.  Helping Hands gives the money to a group that provides the dental van, so they can service people in the Glide area.

"it's through the Oregon Community Foundation, and we will take that $5,000 and give it to  Medical Teams International, which is our dental program that comes  here 4 times a year," said Cindi Weekly of Glide Helping Hands.

Weekly said the money is a big help for their program.

"We see up to 48 patients a year, so that will fund us for a couple of years," said Weekly.

The mobile dental van was made possible by a grant from the Ford Family Foundation in Roseburg and is operated by Medical Teams International.

The grant was obtained through the Ben Serafin Foundation.
