Afternoon disturbance at local bar lands one man in jail

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A Roseburg man is in jail after police say he pulled out a knife during an altercation Tuesday afternoon.

Jason Dean White, 39, was at the Tee-Pee Tavern Tuesday afternoon, when witnesses say he caused a disturbance and he was told to leave the bar.

Police say he later snuck back in and tried to pull his girlfriend out of the bar.

When the bartender tried to intervene, White allegedly pulled a knife on him.

Sgt. Aaron Dunbar says the bartender did exactly what he should have at that point. "In this case, the bartender did exactly the right thing: Stepped back away out of harms way, and called 911 to get us there as quickly as possible," Dunbar said.

Officials say the man fled the scene on foot.

According to police, he was found about a block from the tavern and arrested.

White was charged by police with menacing and criminal trespass.
