REEDSPORT, Ore. -- American Bridge is closing, and over 50 people will be soon be out of work in Douglas County.
Officials with the company office in Pennsylvania confirmed that they are closing the facility, but officials with the plant in Reedsport had no comment on Tuesday.
51 people work at the facility.
In a letter to employees obtained by KCBY News, the company says they are going to start layoffs around December 9.
The layoffs are going to take place over several weeks, the letter said.
Susan Buell, the president of Umpqua Training and Employment in Roseburg, says they have met with the company and are working to find the displaced workers new employment.
Although the letter says the layoffs will start on or around December 9, Buell says that some workers were laid off Monday.
Beull says the employees still working on projects will avoid being laid off until they are done.
