The week's activities lead up to the livestock auction on Friday

ROSEBURG, Ore. - Animals both large and small arrived at the Douglas County Fairgrounds on Tuesday.

FFA groups from across the county spent the day unloading and checking in animals.

"This is our day that we come in to the fair with our animals for all of the different breeds and species of livestock, whether it happens to be goats, sheep, the rabbit barn, chickens, hogs, or cattle down in the cattle barn," said Brian Arp, who teaches agriculture at Days Creek Charter School.

Some of the money raised from the auction on Friday will reimburse operating expenses and loans.

But Arp said many kids will also use the money for college funds.

The Douglas County Fair runs through August 9. | More info about the Douglas County Fair
