BEAVERTON, Ore. – An alert transit rider spotted a Beaverton man missing since Thursday.
Torrance Wade was at the Rose Quarter Transit Station Friday evening when he saw a man looking distressed.
He recognized him as being Russell Welsh, 69, who had been last seen near SW 22nd and Hall in Beaverton.
Wade called 911. Officer Gabe Hertzler of the transit police responded, verified it was Welsh and reached out to Beaverton Police.
"He is home and safe," said Officer Jeremy Shaw of the Beaverton Police Department. "He's okay."
Searchers had looked in Greenway Park and the Fano Creek trail Friday morning for Welsh.
Police say they were called to the 11000 block of Southwest Marylyn Place just after 4 p.m. Thursday on a report Welsh was missing.
Police were especially concerned about Welsh (additional photo at right) because of the dropping temperatures.
