CEO: 'Keep your chins up, keep your eyes open'

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Running a company may be risky business in a recovering economy, but that's exactly what it may take to get ahead.

Umpqua Bank CEO Ray Davis spoke to a full house at the Douglas County Fairgrounds on Tuesday.

He discussed ways for companies to grow, regardless of the economic cycle. "A lot of people, when things get difficult, they sort of hunker down. and that's when I think the greatest opportunities could perhaps pass them by," Davis told KPIC News. "So, I always like to tell people keep your chins up, keep your eyes open, and take advantage of opportunities should they come your way."

Davis also talked about strong, effective leadership, and how to leverage a companies unique culture.
