CANYONVILLE, Ore. -- The dispute over double water fees in the City of Canyonville has come to a close.
The Canyonville Christian Academy sued the city in February for double water fees stemming from the 1970's.
The city has agreed to reimburse 13 water users for two years worth of those fees.
Janel Evans, Canyonville City Administrator, says the city still feels they did nothing wrong. "Some of the actual users have said that they are going to donate the money back to the city, because they believe that it was a just cause," she said.
Evans says the city still believes the fees were also legal.
She said there were no non-profit organizations involved, only school, churches and government agencies.
13 of those non-tax paying businesses were originally charged higher rates to finance Canyonville's infrastructure.
