Celebrate Children brings out kids of all ages to Winston
WINSTON, Ore. -- April is national Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the Wildlife Safari in Winston celebrated with kids on Saturday.
This is the seventh year the Celebrate Children event has taken place.
The event is put on to bring awareness to preventing child abuse with fun, family activities.
Karin Hardin of the Child Abuse Prevention Partnership, says it is a day that helps entire families get together and do things that bring awareness to the cause. "It's really about culminating child abuse prevention month with an activity that's really uplifting, and just another opportunity to bring families together."
Kids of all ages had a great day in the sunshine. They tossed beanbags, won prizes and learned about the Safari as well.
They were mesmerized by the array a small animals, and helped themselves to feeding them in the petting zoo.
Celebrate the Children is a reminder that we all can play a part in promoting the social and emotional well-being of children and families.
