Chalk Art competition open to everyone

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The annual Art and Wine Walk is taking place on May 10, and organizers are asking local artists to help make the event colorful.

The event will feature two different chalk art competitions, one for youth and one for adult artists.

The art can begin at 2:00 p.m., and the judging will start at 5:00 p.m. Pre-registration is required.

If you're not so handy with chalk, you're still welcome to come out, drink a little wine and check out the sidewalk masterpieces.

Several downtown business will open their doors from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., when local wineries will be offering samples of their best wines.

The event is free.

If you are interested in taking part, here are a few things to remember:

  • Art spaces are approximately 6 x 6 feet, but may vary depending on location. 
  • Chalk will be provided, however you may bring and use your own. 
  • Only chalk / pastels in a solid form may be used for the event; no acrylic paints, liquid pastels, etc are acceptable. 
  • Art work must be appropriate for public viewing.
