ROSEBURG, Ore. -- County commissioner Susan Morgan spoke to the Douglas Timber Operators in
Roseburg Thursday morning.

The early bird breakfast meeting took place at Elmer's Restaurant.

Morgan's main talking point was the uncertainty around the safety net funding issue.

She said if this major source of revenue is reduced, Douglas County government will come to a screeching halt.

She also said this was the first year budget cuts were so significant that the public actually felt them. "We're at the point where making more significant cuts is going to dismantle many of our departments."

Morgan touched on the recent redesign of the landfill, transportation and library systems.

She also introduced the idea of developing a trade sector around the trucking industry.
