County men to strap on some fancy footwear for a cause

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Men across the county are getting ready to strap on a pair of pumps for a cause.

The annual Walk a Mile In Her Shoes event is back.

On Friday, dozens of men will squeeze into the fancy footwear and walk a mile through downtown Roseburg.

The march raises funds and awareness for the Battered Persons Advocacy, and organizers say it's a fun way to broach a serious topic. "This is a way for us to rally together and support each other and send hope to victims and survivors of sexual assault and gender violence," said Melanie Prummer of the BPA. "We do that in a fun way."

The fun will kick off this Friday at 4:00 pm at the courthouse.

If strapping on some strappy sandals isn't your idea of fun, Melanie says you can just come out to support the march.

There's also an after-party at Brix on Jackson Street.

If you can't make it to the event, Prummer says that Jiffy Lube and Champion Car Wash will be donating a portion of their profits on Friday to the BPA.
