ROSEBURG, Ore. -- It was on this day in 1787 when the constitution was signed, and some folks paid tribute to the event today, right here at home.
The Umpqua Valley Republican Women held a special presentation in front of the courthouse.
Senator Jeff Kruse talked about what the constitution means to Americans.
Children from the Cobb Street School performed a special roll call of all the states as bells were rung in response.
Emily Blakely of the Umpqua Valley Republican Women told KPIC News that people need to learn more about what the document means to people. I think it's important for, especially young people, to get educated and participate in the things that are the foundation of our country."
The event wrapped up with everyone singing patriotic songs.
