Sheriff: Wife in on husband having sex with babysitter

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- The wife of Paul Michael Roland, 38, knew about her husband's alleged sexual contact with a minor, and even participated, according to an affidavit filed in Douglas County court.

Sheriff's detectives said in the documents that a deputy contacted a 19-year-old female on January 23, and she told them about the relationship that had allegedly started when she was 15 years old.

The victim told police that she had started babysitting for Roland, and was first approached by Roland's wife "regarding Paul Roland's interest in having sex with her."

The girl estimated she had sex with the man over 100 times in the following years, both at his residence on Kermanshah, as well as on trips they took to Reno, Nev.

In the documents, detectives say that in a separate interview with the alleged victim, she told them that Roland gave her alcohol, marijuana and occasionally meth.

When detectives interviewed Roland's wife after serving a search warrant at their home, they say she first denied any knowledge of a relationship between her husband and the girl, but later told them that he in fact was having one, according to the affidavit.

Detectives say she told them she had seen Roland give the girl marijuana and meth at their residence, and said that they would have an occasional threesome at a residence in Reno.

Court documents say that police found Paul Roland in the Myrtle Creek area, and took him into custody.

They say Roland denied having sex with the girl until after she was 18 years old.

Roland has since been released on bail, and no court date has been set yet.
