DA: Man who attacked dad with ax pleads 'Not Guilty'
Hunter Goldberg, 24, is taken into custody back in January, after authorities say he attacked his father with an ax.

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A Roseburg man has pleaded not guilty to attacking his elderly father with an ax, according to the Douglas County District Attorney's Office.

Hunter Goldberg, 24, pleaded not guilty to attempted murder, assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

Officials with the Douglas County Sheriff's office say they were called to a house in the 600 block of Rio Nes Lane, which is off of Sunshine Road east of Roseburg back in January.

The call came after a woman reported that her son had attacked her husband with an ax, and they were on the way to the hospital.

Police say Goldberg hit his father with an ax several times in the head, but his father was able to take the weapon away.

After a standoff with police at the residence, Hunter was taken into custody.

Authorities say Hunter was arrested in late 2011, for trying to steal a goat that he had allegedly wanted to sacrifice for the new year.
