DFPA: Remember fire restrictions


DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- The following is from a press release:

As temperatures rise and the fire danger increases, the Douglas Forest Protective Association would like to remind everyone that a regulated use closure is currently in affect on all private, county, state, and Bureau of Land Management lands protected by the DFPA. 

DFPA firefighters have recently responded to a number of illegal burns throughout the county. 

Open fires including campfires, charcoal fires, cooking fires, and warming fires are currently prohibited except at designated camp grounds. 

Designated campgrounds include:

  • Cavitt Creek
  • Eagle View
  • Lone Pine
  • Mill Pond
  • Rock Creek
  • Scaredman
  • Susan Creek
  • Tyee
  • Amacher Park
  • Douglas County Fairgrounds
  • Pass Creek
  • Stanton Park
  • Chief Miwaleta
  • Whistler’s Bend. 

All backyard burning including debris piles and incinerators are also prohibited. 

Portable cooking stoves using liquefied or bottled fuels are allowed as long as they are used in a safe manner. 

Those found in violation of the regulated use closure will be cited.
