Deputies: Man arrested after assault on a person and a truck

Sheriff's deputies arrested a 34-year-old man, charging him with robbery and theft after an assault that happened Thursday in the 700 block of Buckhorn Road.
Authorities say that Michael Darren Smith, 34, came home from cutting wood at about 7 a.m. Thursday to find a 60-year-old man in his house with Smith's girlfriend.
Officials say that's when Smith became upset and assaulted the man, then went after his truck. They say Smith took an ax to the man's truck, then allegedly stole his wallet and chain saw.
Smith was arrested and charged by deputies with first degree robbery, first degree theft and fourth degree assault, among other charges.
He is lodged in the Douglas County Jail with bail set at $487,500.
Betrayal is a hard pill to swallow, especially inside your "safe"zone and with the person you`re supposed to trust the most.   Been there, done that! I came unglued like this guy came unglued  The law doesn`t protect a person who acts out their anger. I`m sure that I`d be locked up to this day but for sensible people who were with me when I walked into this situation to calm me down and talk sense into me. That lady is long gone now although she did try to clean me out when I gave her the boot. I hope they let this guy go with maybe some anger counseling. and probation.    Â
I agree with Cooper97060 and I don't think this guy should be charged with anything more than the Assault 4. He didn't use a GUN or kill the guy. (yet)
@jonsmith He took the other guy's wallet and chainsaw.  Those are crimes and Assault IV doesn't exactly cover those.
@oregonhusker  @jonsmith "allegedly stole his wallet and chain saw." Like I said, no GUN and no one DEAD. The wallet was probably under the hookers bed, as for the chain saw the guy came home from cutting wood. the hooker and the john probably just said that he did.  Spiteful hooker. Â
She wasn't worth it. Â There are more intelligent ways to deal with situations like this dude.
