Eastern Oregon man falls asleep, crashes into pole

HUNTINGTON, Ore. -- A 25-year-old man suffered only minor injuries after he fell asleep at the wheen and rolled his car, state police said.

At about 7:30 am on Monday, Hector Torres, 25, of Baker City, was driving westbound on Interstate 84 when he fell asleep and his vehicle left the roadway.

Authorities say Torres' car rolled before coming to a stop against a metal highway sign post.

Torres was extricated and taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries, officials said.

Troopers say Torres was wearing a seat belt when the vehicle crashed.

State police issued Torres a ticket for failure to drive within his lane.
