74-year-old LaPine man dies after a crash on Hwy 138E

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- A man is dead after a single vehicle crash on Highway 138 East.
Oregon State Police troopers were called to the scene of an accident near Susan Creek east of Glide, for a report of a vehicle that had left the roadway late Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities at the scene told KPIC News that Buddy Glen Mires, 74, of LaPine, was driving an SUV that left the road and crashed into a tree.
Mires was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Troopers say he was headed eastbound when his vehicle left the roadway.
Officials say at this point, it appears the man may have suffered a medical problem.
OSP says that the airbags deployed during the crash, and Mires was wearing a seat belt.
The westbound lane was closed for about two hours while the accident was investigated.
Oregon State Police were assisted at the scene by the Glide rural Fire District and ODOT.
Mires' family was notified of his death.
Why did three people "like" the story ?
Absolutely Bob...how are you doing? Spring is here, you must be busy!
No can"t say as I do know this fellow. Sad day for him and his family. Each day is precious
Very sad! Robert Otteni, do you know this fellow? Prayers to his family & friends.
Thank you for clarifying! :)
Jessica, no pictures of the vehicle were posted until the family was notified. Also, we don't make death notifications, that is for police. The man has now been identified as a LaPine man. thanks for your question.
You can post pictures of the vehicle before you contact family members? Chances are in a small town like Glide, the vehicle will be recognized. I know I wouldn't want to find out that a loved one died in a car accident on Facebook/the news. Prayers to this mans family.
How sad I have been hearing the sirens for hours driving past my house, my heart goes out to his family
Prayers for The family.
