ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The construction on the bathroom complex at the fairgrounds is still a few weeks away from being complete.
Originally, officials had hoped that the project would be done by the start of the month.
But an issue arose installing sky lights, and pushed the end date back about three weeks.
The building should be done by the end of the month.
One of the biggest additions is the locking doors. Harold Phillips, the fairgrounds Executive Director, says the unlocked doors on the old building created a problem. "On the last building they were so exposed, of course, to anyone. And then these showers are going to have, in terms of key code locks that each one will have, and so they'll feel a lot more secure taking their shower."
Phillips believes this will cut down on use by transients who have used and abused the facilities in the past.
