EUGENE, Ore. - The waiting game is over for Ducks and Beavers fans as the news that both Oregon football programs will be flying south this winter for their bowl games.
"Big fan, love the Fiesta Bowl," said Duck fan Ben Buckmaster. "Glendale's gonna be sick. I'm making the trip absolutely."
At Premier Travel in Springfield, phones have been ringing off the hook ever since the bowl announcements were made.
"Fans are excited and getting ready to go down to the big game," said travel agent Lauri Quinby.
She said she and the agency start planning bowl packages weeks in advance.
"This year's been a little crazier than past years where we, for a while, we were looking at the BCS National Championship, also the Rose Bowl and then now the Fiesta Bowl."
This year Premier is offering two travel packages ranging from $450 per person up to $800 per person.
"We have our own package which is a three night land package at the Hotel Palomar in Phoenix," she said. "That'll include transfers to the pep rally, to the game, three nights accommodations, so it's the first to the fourth. and then we book airfare separately whether it be from Portland or from Eugene."
She said they're also working with the University of Oregon Alumni Association offering a second option for travelers.
"That's the one that comes with all the bells and whistles, it's a non-stop flight out of Eugene, three nights accommodations at the alumni hotel which is the Westin," she said. "That includes a welcome cocktail reception, pep rally, pre-game tailgate and transfers to the game."
But she's quick to point out, neither option includes game tickets. Those have to be purchased separately.
So far, Quinby said they've had a pretty big turnout.
"People are being a little bit more savvy I think this year and maybe looking for a little bit better deal, so we've booked a lot of independent air and a lot of hotels as well as our packages." said Quinby.
If you're a Beaver fan wanting to head to the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, the Oregon State Alumni Association is offering travel deals too starting at $800 per person up to $2,000 per person.
The Beavers will take on the Texas Longhorns in the Alamo Bowl on Saturday, December 29. The Ducks will take on Kansas State in the Fiesta Bowl on Thursday, January 3.
