SUTHERLIN, Ore. -- Animal lovers are in for a treat this weekend, as the first ever annual Woofstock is taking place at Central Park in Sutherlin.
Organizers say the day-long event is a chance for animal lovers to get together and celebrate their furry friends. Clyde Blakely, an event organizer, says that dogs shouldn't just be looked at as household pets. "They're our companions, the dogs, and dogs are supposed to be man's best friend, and I really do think they are," he said.
Woofstock has events planned all day long, there's a 'Mutt Strut' starting at Bi-Mart at 10:00 a.m., dog races, ugliest dog contest and more.
This is the first year of Woofstock, and Blakely says he's seen so much enthusiasm for the event, he's already planning on hosting it next year, too.
Blakely adds that they're still looking for volunteers, and you can show up and help out on Saturday at the event.
