DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- Fishermen of all ages and skill levels are welcome to hit the water this weekend.

It is free fishing weekend throughout the state of Oregon.

Anyone, regardless of whether or not they've got a license, is allowed to drop a line.

There are a few events going on for kids.

On Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to :00 p.m., officials at Cooper Creek will operate a kiddie pond for kids ages 2-8. There will also be loaner rods and reels, a casting contest, free food and more.

Herbert's Pond officials will supply kids 16 and under with bait supplies and a little help from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Diamond Lake will be open for kids from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Check-in will start at 6:00 a.m. at the marina, and fish will be measured by 2:30. Kids with the biggest fish in their age group will win prizes.
