Oregon man shot while helping teen stabbing victim in California

TEHACHAPI, Calif. - (KBAK/KBFX) — A Good Samaritan was shot over the weekend in Tehachapi.

The man, a 55-year-old Oregon resident whose name was withheld, stopped to help a 16-year-old boy who had been stabbed early Sunday morning, Tehachapi police said.

The man who stabbed the teen is believed to have also shot the Good Samaritan.

The boy was walking on West Tehachapi Boulevard with a group of people when they became involved in an argument with the assailant.

The rest of the group scattered when the boy was stabbed, but the Good Samaritan was driving by and stopped to help the boy, police said.

Police didn't say what sparked the argument.

The Good Samaritan was stabilized at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield.
The boy, a Tehachapi resident, was treated and released from KMC.

The attacker was described as a white man, 30 to 40 years old, with brown hair and a mustache.
