GARDINER, Ore. -- State Police closed Highway 101 Saturday afternoon after trees fell across the roadway north of Gardiner.
About 15 to 20 trees fell or were leaning towards the highway Saturday afternoon, blocking both lanes of Hwy 101 about five miles north of Reedsport.
Crews reopened one lane of the highway by 7 p.m., using flaggers and pilot cars to guide traffic through the area.
Drivers hoping to avoid the area are asked to use either Highway 38 or Highway 126 as a detour.
Highway 34 is also blocked about two miles east of Waldport, ODOT said. Other coastal area roads may have some traffic restrictions.
Check ODOT's website for updates on road closures.
State police ask everyone out on the roads to drive with caution and watch for debris lying in the road.
This is a developing story, updates will be posted when they become available.
