Job Corps shows off new dining hall

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- Students at the Wolf Creek Job Corps held their back to school ceremony on Thursday, and this year, students have something new to come back to.
The ceremonies were held in front of the brand new dining hall.
Officials say that people with the school have been working to get a new dining hall for more than a decade.
The old building is more than 40 years old, and officials say it was out of date.
The dining hall isn't just for eating, it's also one of the places where students in the culinary program can hone their craft.
So, whether Job Corps participants are chowing down dinner or serving up culinary creations, officials say they're excited for the new, state of the art surroundings. Sherri Chambers, Deputy Center Director, said there are a large number of people that need the facilities. "We have about 231 students who live here year round, and we feed those students three meals a day out of the dining hall," she told KPIC News. "So, it's critical."
The dining hall should be ready for use in the next few weeks.
