ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The Downtown Roseburg Association is gearing up to help people celebrate Valentine's Day a little early this year.
The annual Wine and Chocolate Walk is back this Thursday.
Every year, association officials organize downtown businesses to stay open a little later.
Businesses will have wine from mostly local vineyards, and many will offer some sort of chocolate treat.
While the free event is fun for the public, organizers say it also offers downtown businesses the chance to show off their wares to people who may not have normally stopped by. Janice Quist, the downtown association promotions chair, says it might just lead to people finding out a little about a downtown business that they might not otherwise. "It's a way for merchants to be open in the evening and give people the chance to stroll the streets of downtown, and walk into business that they might not normally go into."
About 20 businesses will be participating, and at each stop, people will get the chance to enter their name into a raffle for a basket filled with local goods.
The walk will run this Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
