Local firefighters go pink for awareness

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- Local firefighters are going pink for a cause.

Since October is national Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the firefighters at Douglas County Fire District #2 will be sporting pink and blue shirts in support all month long.

This is their second year participating.

These firefighters will be raising awareness about a disease that affects both women and men. "The more we know about it, the better we are preventing it and avoiding the problems that come with it," said Fire Marshal Josep Pedrola. "So, obviously that is through funding, the mighty dollar."

Firefighters from District 2 won't be the only one sporting this shirt.

You can help out by ordering yours at any fire district 2 fire station and the district's headquarters.

All proceeds will go to the Treva Hoffman Foundation.
