DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- A man who became separated from his cross country ski group survived a cold night by building a snow cave.

Just before 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a man was reported missing to the Douglas County Sheriff's office.

Authorities say he had been cross country skiing from a cabin in the Three Lakes Snow Park area.

Adam Drummer, 32, of Bend, reportedly told the group at around 1:00 p.m. that he was tired and headed back to the cabin.

When his group returned, he was not there.

Authorities say Drummer was located by Sheriff's deputies and members of the Search and Rescue Snow Cat Team at about 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, and was uninjured.

Officials say he was able to survive the night by building a snow cave and a small warming fire.
