Man accused by police of shooting wife pleads not guilty

COQUILLE, Ore. -- The man indicted on a murder charge after his wife was found dead from a gunshot wound has pleaded not guilty.

Wayne Hagner was back in court on Monday, where he made his not guilty plea in the charges passed down by the grand jury.

Those charges include one count of murder and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

These charges come following a homicide in North Bend on Friday, July 5, where police say Hagner shot and killed his wife, Anna.

An autopsy report issued last week reported that Anna Hagner died as a result of being shot in the head.

North Bend police continue to investigate and interview witnesses as they build a case against Wayne Hagner.

Hagner will be back in court in September for a status hearing.
