Man arrested for Myrtle Creek card shop robbery

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A Roseburg man was arrested today and charged with committing armed robbery at a Myrtle Creek card shop in February.
KPIC News was there for the arrest.
Police served a search warrant at a home on Katrina Court in Roseburg, where they arrested Cory Ray Drennen, 36.
Police say he used a handgun to hold up the elderly owner of Myrtle Creek Sports Cards, getting away with cash and other collectible items.
Myrtle Creek Police Chief Don Brown says that other law enforcement agencies were key in helping the investigation. "Without the assistance of the Oregon State Police Crime Lab, this case may have gone unsolved," Brown said. "The Sheriff's department detective division gave us a huge amount of assistance, they're helping us here today, and Roseburg PD was also aware of what was going on and assisted as well."
Drennen was lodged in the Douglas County Jail on charges of first degree robbery and kidnapping, after police say he had tied up the shop owner, who is in his 80's.
About 10 minutes after police say Drennen tied him up, he was able to get away and went to a nearby market to call 911.
Chief Brown told KPIC News, that man's help was vital as well. "He's been just amazing, so my hats off to him after what he went through, to be able to revisit this as many times as we had to revisit it to solve it," Brown said. "He'll be pleased."
Police say they recovered the gun and some of the stolen items at the Roseburg residence.
