Police: Man who collapsed riding bike identified
WINSTON, Ore. -- Winston police have identified a man who they say had a medical condition that caused him to collapse and die while riding his bicycle on Saturday.
Police say that at about 2:30, they were called to the intersection of Lookingglass and Safari Roads, where they found a man laying on the ground unconscious.
When paramedics arrived, they pronounced the man deceased.
The man had no identification on him, and police could not immediately release the man's identity. A relative called the police department on Sunday afternoon, and after an investigation, police say they positively identified the man as Rodney Steven Congdon, 60, of Roseburg.
Witnesses told authorities that Congdon appeared to just fall from his bicycle for an unknown reason.
Winston Police Chief Scott Gugel says they won't have the exact cause of death for a while.
