SUTHERLIN, Ore. -- A man eluded police after a high speed chase Monday night, that started in Sutherlin and ended in Oakland.
Sutherlin police say a man reported his truck stolen Monday around 9:15 p.m., and as the call came out over the police radio, an officer on patrol drove by the vehicle on Central Avenue.
Officials say the officer started to follow the vehicle, and the driver sped off.
The chase wound through Sutherlin for a short time, and then headed into Oakland. Officials say speeds got up about 92 miles per hour on Old Highway 99.
Police say the driver of the stolen truck eventually fled on foot into a wooded area around Chestnut Street, and police a K-9 dog was brought in to search.
The dog was unable to find the suspect, and he remains at large.
Officers reported that they never saw the driver's face for a positive identification.
Police say about an hour after the chase began, another vehicle was reported stolen in Oakland. Police say they are now looking for a gold 1990's Honda Accord. More information on the vehicle is expected to be released later today.
The owner of the pickup was able to retrieve his vehicle.
