DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- Search and Rescue crews found a man alive, after he had spent the night in freezing temperatures and only partially clothed.

On Monday at about 2:00 pm, an abandoned vehicle was found in the 3500 block of Boomer Hill Road.

The Oregon State Police responded to the initial call and found a 2004 Toyota Celica parked in the roadway with no one around. The vehicle was registered to Keith Ramos, 39, of Tumwater, Washington.

Troopers checked the area and found footprints leading over the edge of the road and into the forest.

OSP requested assistance from the Roseburg Police K-9 unit, who tracked the footprints to a small pond. Officers found discarded clothing along the way and indications that someone had recently entered the pond.

Douglas County Search and Rescue crews conducted a search of the area.

The search was suspended at nightfall and as snow began to fall on the area.

On Tuesday morning, the Search and Rescue team continued the search.

Divers checked the pond and ground searchers combed the area.

At about noon, ground searchers found Ramos about 300 yards from the pond laying in a drainage.

Ramos was only wearing a jacket and underwear.

Ramos was suffering from severe hypothermia and was transported to Mercy Hospital for treatment.

Officials at Mercy say that on Wednesday morning, Ramos is in the Intensive Care Unit in serious condition.

At this time it is unknown why Ramos abandoned his vehicle and walked off road. The case is still under investigation.
