WINCHESTER, Ore. -- The girls were pretty in pastels this weekend at the Miss Douglas County Scholarship Pageant.
The crowd cheered as the lovely contestants modeled their finest swimwear and evening gowns.
The talent portion of the event was quite surprising. There was a clay thrower and even and a spray painter.
Summer Fox, the executive director of the program, explained why two girls won a crown. "It's just an extra opportunity for the girls to go to state, earn more scholarship money, and we're trying to bring more awareness to the program," she said. "So, two title holders out in the community. an extra pair of hands to serve and get the word out."
The winners were Roseburg High School student Ashley Dombrowski for Miss Douglas County, and Elizabeth Denny for Miss Umpqua Valley.
